is looking for

UX/UI Designer

Job Type: Fulltime

Salary: DOE

We are actively seeking talented Interaction Designers/UX Architects to join our efforts to create world class products for our client's New Product Development group. We are a small, focused team of passionate engineers, data scientists, designers, and business people set on creating and building products that transform the way we and our clients do business. Our current product pipeline spans the Corporate and Investment Bank ranging from Investment and Transaction Banking, to Markets (Sales and Trading) and Investor Services.
Sure, we are part of a large financial services firm operating in a highly-regulated environment, and that means we are not as flexible or agile as your average company – let alone a startup. But we are careful stewards of our clients' trust and money and combine creativity and speed with discipline and awareness.
It also means that what we build matters and have huge impact; our products and solutions will reach our 1000s of clients around the world, and affect how we do business – from trading securities in multiple markets to moving trillions of dollars a day. We won't build it unless we know it is scalable.
We are obsessed with effectiveness, productivity and efficiency; if we find an issue or broken process, we fix it. We work with the right tools, make decisions quickly, and only pursue those ideas that can scale and meet our clients' and our business' critical needs.
The successful candidate will join a unique and highly specialized product development team. Our team of User Experience practitioners sits within this product organization and partners with Product Managers to craft innovative solutions for business-critical applications.
This is an exciting opportunity to design applications with a global user-base and where the UX is interaction-rich, comprised of many highly specialized workflows, and is built with the latest desktop, web, and mobile front end technologies.
The ideal candidate is, above all, a maker and enjoys balancing the craft with an academic interest in theory and science of Interaction Design, HCI, and user-centered design methodologies.
The right candidate: • Is excited and motivated to create next-generation user interfaces for a specialist user base • Leverages his/her design skills to imagine, illustrate, and help realize a compelling functional interface • Can defend their interaction design proposals with rationale that is rooted in an understanding of the users and the business • Has a strong sense of aesthetics • Is curious, resourceful, and able to learn and operate within complex business domains • Has strong communication skills and enjoys working collaboratively • Is able to balance alternative points of view and take input • Is detail oriented and always concerned about the resulting effect of their designs • Can adeptly manage and thrive in a high pressured environment with competing demands on time • Has some financial services (e.g, banking, capital markets, payments) experience but more critically, has a record of successful deliveries for custom-designed, highly specialized, application user interfaces
Primary Responsibilities The Interaction Designer / UX Architect will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and specifying interaction models as well as screen and component-level details including data, forms, visualizations, navigation, and nuanced behaviors. Just as important is the IxD's ability to understand the target users, their contexts of use, key business and technical contexts and then synthesize all findings into innovative designs that solve both user and business problems.
Additional responsibilities include: • Taking an active role in product ideation. • Seeking out deep insights into user needs and behaviors. • Working closely with multi-discipline teams to create, evolve, and enforce interaction design standards. • Creating robust and exacting interaction design specifications including concept models, user scenarios/stories, wireframes, interaction/state diagrams, interaction pattern specifications.
Preferred Work Experience Ideal candidates will have a minimum 3 years experience working in a professional capacity as an Interaction Designer or Information Architect on highly interactive and data rich applications where they (1) were responsible for solving business and user problems with design and (2) designed and documented the interactivity (flow, states, transitions, and other functional behaviors). They will also have experience with the following: • Participating and at times steering the design process for highly functional business application. • Using UX methods to influence the overall product strategy. • Employing innovation-fuelling generative user research, and evaluative user testing. • Candidates do not necessarily need financial services experience but must have a track record of successful deliveries with a strong portfolio that highlights how your ideas have influenced the end-state of a complex business application. • Experience designing for dynamic front-end technologies such as: Flex, WPF, HTML5/CSS or the like.
Educational Experience • Bachelor's Degree in design with emphasis in one of the following (or equivalent) fields: Interaction/Digital Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Architecture, Communication Design. • Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
